BIG ISLAND (KHNL) - The US Geological Survey reports a 4.7 magnitude earthquake hit the Big Island at 9:14 Thursday morning. The epicenter was one mile southwest of Halemaumau Crater.
A 4.0 magnitude aftershock followed at 9:33 am. Two additonal aftershocks over 3.0 occured that morning in the same general area.
Officials at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center say no tsunami is expected. No major damage has been reported. Some residents near the epicenter reported their homes shook.
