Hawaii Principal of the Year Named Sunday

WINDWARD OAHU (KHNL) - Who's the state's best principal this year? Mitchell Otani from Kaneohe Elementary was named Sunday at Luana Hills! He gets $1,000 and he'll go on to represent Hawaii in the national competition. "I'm a bit overwhelmed and honored to win this and represent Hawaii on behalf of all the principals in the state," he smiled from beneath dozens of congratulatory lei.

The National Distinguished Principals Program was established in 1984 to honor elementary and middle school principals who set the pace, character, and quality of the education for students.
