(KHNL) - "Right now, we feel Miss Watanabe has been murdered," Honolulu Poilce Chief Boisse Correa made that sad announcement after two weeks of searching for a missing woman from Japan.
Honolulu Police say forensic evidence helped them arrest a suspect today. Twenty-two year old Kirk Lankford of Kalihi was taken to the main police cell block Thursday night.
He was arrested at 5 o'clock this evening on suspicion of murder.
Honolulu Police would not comment on the incriminating evidence, but they believe the missing japanese visitor was murdered.
Last week, police seized Lankford's personal truck, and his work vehicle from Hauoli Pest Control as evidence.
Sources tell us, Masumi Watanabe's blood was found inside one of the vehicle's, along with a pair of glasses that looked like the one's she was wearing when she disappeared on April 12th after going for a walk in Pupukea.
Although police would not comment on the evidence, they are confident they have their man.
