HONOLULU (KHNL) - Drivers were treated to a very colorful sight in Honolulu on the corner of Dole and Alexander streets. Students from Maryknoll School, armed with paint and brushes, got busy.

They're creating a large mural at the construction site of their new gym. The colorful images represent their excitement for the new building.

"So we thought it would be nice to have something that reflects our students and our values here at Maryknoll. I think they get experience to paint something very large and gather out of the classroom, which is a nice experience, to work outdoors" said art teacher Catherine Iwami.

Once the 6th and 7th graders are finished, high school students will then get to add their creative touches. Construction on the Maryknoll School's new gym begins in June.
