HONOLULU (KHNL) - The Hawaii Museums Association (HMA) will hold its annual conference on May 24 to 25 in Honolulu. The theme for this year¹s conference is ³Transforming Our Institutions: Challenging Histories & Engaging Communities.² The conference will include presentations, panel and roundtable discussions and more. Post-conference workshops will be held at Bishop Museum on May 26. Post-conference topics will include budgeting for non-profits and working with issues pertaining to the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The registration fee for the budgeting workshop range from $30 to $20, the NAGPRA workshop is free.
HMA was founded in 1968 and is the primary provider of museum training programs in the state of Hawaii. The annual conference is one of the ways HMA serves the museum field.
