WAIANAE (KHNL) - Police are investigating a possible attempted murder case after a man was beaten Saturday morning in Waianae.

The incident started shortly after 7AM Saturday at the Burger King restaurant at the Waianae Mall. Police say two men got into a fight at the restaurant.

Police say the suspect, 53-year-old Gary Villez, allegedly started choking the victim, 60-year-old Domingo Correa. Restaurant employees helped break up the fight. Correa is at the Queens Medical Center in critical condition.

"He always comes in the morning.  He buys coffee and a cheeseburger.  I always serve him," says Jay Dagdagan, restaurant manager. "Sometimes he come in short, like he come with 35 cents, so I give him the coffee.  So I always give him."

Villez was arrested on second degree assault charges.

He's at the Kapolei Police Station facing possible attempted murder charges.
