"We admire the grassroots work of the Hawaii Nature Center and their commitment to environmental education for our schoolchildren, as well as local adults and visitors," said Lititia Thomas, Aveda Salon & Spa Site Manager.  "We are so grateful to ALA MOANA CENTER, BETSEY JOHNSON, MENEHUNE WATER COMPANY, and PEARL ULTRALOUNGE who came on board eagerly to make this event possible!"

Thomas continued, "Our stylists worked with Betsey Johnson, among other top designers, at Fashion Week in New York, and also just returned from Aveda's Master Jam in Milan, where they learned the very latest trends and techniques for hair color, cuts, and make-up, and cannot wait to preview these looks at FASHION SHOW FOR THE EARTH!"

Each year, AVEDA CORPORATION, the maker of pure plant-based lifestyle products for hair, skin, body, make-up and Pure-FumeTM, celebrates Earth Month by raising funds to support environmental organizations around the world.  Aveda Salon & Spa at Ala Moana, which is owned by Aveda Corporation, has chosen Hawaii Nature Center as its environmental partner in Hawaii.

"Aveda's interest in supporting the Hawaii Nature Center's efforts at preservation of native species and our educational programs with Hawaii's children and families comes at a very critical time, and will help to ensure that children on Oahu and Maui can afford the only outdoor education many will receive as part of their in-school curriculum,' said Gregory D. Dunn, Hawaii Nature Center Executive Director.  "Aveda is a great example of a company that 'walks the talk,' not only promoting environmental stewardship through their advertising, but putting their dollars to work at the grass-roots level where it makes the most difference.  We are pleased to have Aveda as a partner in our efforts and are humbled by the trust they have placed in our programs by giving us national recognition through inclusion in their Earth Day marketing campaign.  Aveda's local staff are tremendous partners in supporting environmental education, we're very fortunate to have them in our corner!"

"Betsey Johnson is thrilled to be a part of this fundraiser for the Hawaii Nature Center, and working with Aveda as part of their Earth Month celebrations,"  said Ala Moana Store manager Marilee Mattson.  "We even have the event posted on our corporate website at www.betseyjohnson.com/calendar.html."

"Pearl is happy to host this great event for Aveda and the Hawaii Nature Center" said GM Alvin Yeh.  "Pearl is the perfect venue for fashion shows like this with our catwalk and state-of-the-art sound and lighting technology.  We also want to introduce folks to our new pupu menu at this event, as well as our signature drinks.  We're offering our Happy Hour prices throughout the evening which are a significant value."

"General Growth Properties of Hawaii (GGP) and Ala Moana Center are proud to support Aveda's FASHION SHOW FOR EARTH event that raises awareness about our aina (environment) and supports the educational efforts of the Hawaii Nature Center that touches our island keiki, kamaaina and our visitors.  It is GGP's goal as a green organization to support the communities that we live and conduct business in for the betterment of the environment for our future generations." said Dwight Yoshimura, Senior Vice President, Ala Moana Center, General Growth Properties, Inc.

"This should be a sell-out, as we were getting ticket requests before the ads even came out," said Aveda's Thomas.  "We are really looking forward to this night of great fun and fashion...and it's all for such a wonderful cause!"
