Early Morning House Fire in Kalama Valley

HAWAII KAI (KHNL) - Residents in Kalama Valley woke up to smoke and flames this morning. At approximately 5AM neighbor Garth Fernandez says he heard a loud pop, followed by a lot of commotion. He saw smoke and flames coming from the back of the home where the fire broke out at 1226 Honokahua street. Crews had the fire under control by 5:30.

Honolulu Fire Department Captain Frank Johnson said the flames and smoke caused more than 300,000 dollars in damage.

Neighbors say the family who live in the home is devastated, but they are grateful no one was hurt.
