Cold Case Murder Suspect Appears in Court

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- A man accused of a cold case murder appears before an Oahu judge. Darnell Griffin kept his arms folded in front of him throughout the hearing Monday morning.

He's accused of killing Evelyn Luka eight years ago. The 20-year-old was found unconscious and severely beaten along the H-2 Freeway near Ka Uka Boulevard September 6, 1999.

Investigators say DNA evidence points to Griffin, who's already a convicted murderer. The 48-year-old remains in custody, unable to post $5 million bail.
