HPD Unveils High-Tech Terror Prevention Center

HONOLULU (KHNL) - It looks like the ultimate place to hold a Super Bowl party. But the conference room on the top floor at Honolulu Police Department headquarters is actually a tool in the fight against terrorism.

Honolulu police unveiled their new terrorism prevention command center Thursday morning. It features a dozen 50-inch television screens that will help the department monitor what's happening out in the field during emergencies. The room is also set up for audio conferencing with other agencies.

Police spent $871,000 in federal grant money for the new center.
