KAPOLEI (KHNL) - Target plans to come to Hawaii and residents can hardly wait.

On Wednesday night, a company representative will unveil plans to the public for the first time.

"It was one of my favorite stores on the Mainland and I'd like to see it out here," said Kirsten Grigonis, Kapolei resident.

"The prices, different brands, brand clothing. I was never disappointed when I went into the store," said Joanne Rios, Target shopper.

Target hopes to open its first Hawaii store on Kalaeloa Boulevard in Kapolei Commons. It would be located at the edge of Kapolei, right next to the freeway. It would also be just a quarter mile way from where a Costco is being planned.

The local neighborhood board says both companies plan to widen the road and add extra turning lanes to alleviate the traffic both stores would bring.

Residents hope to hear more details at Wednesday's meeting.

"Oh I think having a Target in Kapolei would be great," said Grigonis.

The company is reportedly planning to open more stores around the state, including Salt Lake.

"That's a good idea but I'd prefer to have it somewhere on the North Shore," said Trisha Sellesin, North Shore resident.

But most of the people we talked to don't care where the store will be located, just as long as it's somewhere in the state.
