HONOLULU (KHNL) -  Local architects are celebrating some of Hawaii's historic buildings.  Washington Place located in Downtown Honolulu is one of the structures they are acknowledging.  It is designed in the French Creole, Greek Revival Style.

The former governors' residence is now in the National Register of Historic Places.   It was also once the home of Queen Liliuoukalani.

"Washington Place is extremely important to Hawaii's history, because really, from this place alone, we can tell most of Hawaii's history," said Historian Corinne Chun Fujimoto.

The architects visited Washington Place as they mark 150 years of the American Institute of Architects this year.
