(KHNL) - The first thing you need to know is that dry food is not affected.
There are over 90 brands involved so you need to check the recall list. Then examine the product codes on the can.
Look at the first four numbers, then the next four. If they match the recall list don't feed this food to your pet.
Hawaii's largest pet retailer, Pet's Discount confirms they are pulling pet food involved in the recall. Other stores include Safeway and Wal-mart.
At Pet's Discount they have been getting calls all day from concerned pet owners who bought food there.
At the Humane Society dog park, the pet food scare has people talking. Dog owner, "Billy" who didn't want to reveal his last name says, "I'm concerned for those people using the food but lucky thing I found about it now rather than later if something did happen."
A beagle plays with the other dogs but sadly another beagle, this one from Kailua may be Hawaii's first dog death linked to the pet food recalls.
Twinkles died last Sunday and his owners blame a can of Iames dog food on the recall list.
