Investigators Determine Bones Found at Job Site Are Ancient

KAHALA (KHNL) - An investigation finds human remains found at a Kahala construction site last week are ancient. Now, the case is in the hands of the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.

Honolulu police responded to a property on Kahala Avenue, after construction workers unearthed a leg bone, a pelvic bone and several smaller bones. Sources say the contractor initially kept the discovery a secret, reburied the remains and continued working.

DLNR officials are investigating whether the company followed proper procedures after it uncovered the ancient burial site.
