Small Group Makes Big Accomplishments in Stream Cleanup

KAILUA (KHNL) -  When it comes to cleaning up the community, even a small group can accomplish a lot.  That's the philosophy for the Windward Ahupuaa Alliance, as members clean the Kawainui Stream.

The group is out here once a month for what it calls the "Quick and Dirty Clean Up" to pick up trash and remove any alien plants growing along the streambed.

The streambed is near Hamakua Drive, at the entrance to Kailua Town.

"We felt like it was even more important than some of the areas we've worked in the past, to try and regularly come back and keep it clean," said member Jim Wood

The group's next scheduled clean up is April First.  Volunteers are welcome.
