WAIANAE (KHNL) - Another pedestrian accident on Oahu has claimed the life of an 80-year-old woman.

The accident happened around 4 PM Monday on Farrington Highway in front of the Island Mini Mart. Two west bound lanes were detoured onto Old Government Road.

The victim was taken to the Queens Medical Center in critical condition where she later died.

Lieutenant Jerry Wojcik says, "Nowadays, people are in such a hurry to go from point a to point b, they just go the quickest means they can. Unfortunately that's crossing in the middle of the block, or going through a red light or turning on red, and they have to get there as fast as possible, they don't care about anyone else."

Monday's crash marks the 10th pedestrian fatality on Oahu so far this year.

Last year's entire total of pedestrian fatalities was 20.
