Puna Teen Charged in Shooting Death

(KHNL) -- A Big Island teen is charged with murder in the shooting of a man in Puna Sunday morning.

Officers responding to a report of a gunshot in the Waa Waa area of lower Puna found the victim's body. Investigators say the remains were in a car that had been set on fire.

Authorities are trying to identify the burned body through dental records and DNA. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Sunday night, police arrested a 17-year-old boy after witnesses identified him as the shooter. He's now charged with murder, auto theft, arson, and a firearms offense.
