CHINATOWN (KHNL) - The Hawaii Theatre Center continues its spring series of Hana Hou!Hawaiian Music Concerts on Friday, March 9 with the Brothers Cazimero as headliners in "Ho¹ike Hapa Haole," a show featuring popular hapa haole music, produced by Burton White.
Future conceerts also include the annual ³New Traditionalists² concert on April 27 showcasing the Makaha Sons and others, and the retitled ³Radio Hula² on May 25. In addition, the ³Be Steel My Heart² concert originally slated for February 16 has been rescheduled to June 22.
All concerts are at 8 p.m. at the Hawaii Theatre. Tickets are $33 each at the Hawaii Theatre Box Office, 1130 Bethel Street, or charge-by-phone at 528-0506. They also may be ordered on-line 24 hours a day at www.hawaiitheatre.com.
In discussing the name change on the May 25 show, White said the earlier titled ³Hawaii Calls² concert has been changed since an error in name rights was discovered. "My research failed to give me the correct information on the use of this registered name. I would never infringe on Don McDiarmid¹s right to it nor his history with the program. I look forward to having him as our special guest in fact at the May 25 performance when we showcase Hawaiian music heard on the radio around the world," White said.
The concert series is presented with support from the City & County of Honolulu, ResortQuest at the Executive Centre, Hawaiian Springs Natural Water, Hawaii Tourism Authority and the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
