Health Department: Check Your Peanut Butter

HONOLULU (KHNL) - A Consumer alert Thursday night.  You may want to check that jar of peanut butter on your shelf.

The Department of Health is asking Hawaii residents to get rid of certain containers of Peter Pan peanut butter or Great Value peanut butter.

The batches may be contaminated with salmonella. The affected jars have a product code that begins with the number 2111.

The DOH says at this time they have received no confirmed reports of illness here in hawaii.

All stores carrying the peanut butter brands are asked to pull the containers form shelves. The outbreak has sickened nearly 300 people in 39 states since August.
