(KHNL) - The windy weather continues to interrupt classes at windward Oahu schools. Hawaiian Electric crews restored power at Le Jardin Academy in Kailua Wednesday night after classes were cancelled for two days. HECO worked for two days to repair a remote wind-snapped pole as gale force downslope winds continued to pour down from the peaks of the Koolau Mountains.
Meanwhile, Waiahole Elementary School will be closed to students on Thursday. Teachers and staff should report for work at Kahaluu Elementary School.
A classroom building at Waiahole Elementary lost its roof Wednesday afternoon after school hours due to the high winds. Students and teachers were not present when it occurred, and there were no injuries.
Facilities specialists made temporary repairs and will inspect the classroom building on Thursday for other possible damage. The school is expected to be open on Friday.
