Power Outage Shuts Down Le Jardin Academy

KAILUA (KHNL) - A power outage shut down Le Jardin Academy's upper campus Tuesday. The school, located at the corner of Kalanianaole Highway and Kapaa Quarry Road is home to more than 500 students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Le Jardin Academy's upper campus was closed all day Tuesday. Hawaiian Electric Company crews were working to restore power but had not succeeded late Tuesday afternoon. A pole snapped early Tuesday morning, cutting off power to the school. According to HECO, the pole is located in an area that is difficult to access.

Because HECO is unsure whether they will be able to restore power before Wednesday morning, school officials will make a decision at 5:00 AM regarding whether or not the school will be open.

The academy's junior school was open Tuesday, said headmaster Adrian Allan. The junior school is located onew mile away from the main campus on Kailua Road.
