Police Make Arrest in Kapiolani Strangulation Death

By: Minna Sugimoto

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- A 32-year-old man is in Honolulu police custody accused of tying up a man and strangling him.

The body of Ted Arifuku was found in his studio apartment on Kapiolani Boulevard January 15th. Investigators say Arifuku's landlord made the grisly discovery, when he arrived to fix an appliance in the unit.

The victim had facial and head injuries, and his hands were tied behind him. An autopsy revealed the 58-year-old died from strangulation.

Police arrested Curtis Ray Brooks on suspicion of murder Wednesday night. He has not been charged.
