Maui Police Make Record Drug Bust

MAUI (KHNL) -  A Maui County police raid nets the largest drug bust in the island's history.

Officers stormed a home and a business in Kahului.  The bust was the result of a six-month long investigation.

Police recovered 18.5 pounds of cocaine, and six pounds of crystal methamphetamine.  The drugs carry a combined street value of $1.5 million.

Officers also seized four cars, one motorcycle, an ounce of marijuana and more than $114,000 in cash.

Police arrested four suspects, including a Maui school teacher.  A judge released the teacher and another man because of a lack of evidence.

Patrick Aniban of Kahului and Matthew Otterson of Makawao face felony meth charges.

Aniban and Otterson are jailed, each on $1.5 million bonds.
