Foul Play Suspected In Second Baby Death

By: Minna Sugimoto

(KHNL) - An Ewa Beach baby who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition Monday has died, and investigators are calling it a murder.

Police opened their investigation after the little boy was found unresponsive at a home on Kaikala Street in Ewa Beach. An autopsy performed on Wednesday determined one-year-old Dante Puni died from "assaultive head trauma." The Medical Examiner classified the case as a homicide.

It's the second baby murder this week.

Investigators say they went to a house on Pililaau Avenue in Nanakuli Sunday, after a little girl arrived at a hospital with injuries consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome. An autopsy Tuesday found one-year-old Kamalani Inciong-Smith died from "abusive head trauma."

Police do not have anyone in custody in either case.
