(KHNL) - Right about now, Santa Claus is making his list and checking it twice.

But, the "Big Guy in Red" isn't the only one with a valuable holiday list.

A local coalition of movers and shakers created a list for all of us to "Live Aloha".

Christmas is a mere three weeks away.

Stress, is starting to mount.

''Stress of the holidays. Work. Trying to get everyone presents,'' said Moanalua resident, Devyn Rola.

''I haven't started anything, yet," explained Kaneohe resident Cherese Mio. "Every time I look around, I see decorations, I see trees up. I don't have my tree, I don't have decorations, I don't have my gifts, I don't have wrapping paper. I don't have anything, yet. When am I going to do this? I have no idea.''

And having "no idea" in the heart of the holiday season can lead to living life a little on edge.

A group of community leaders understand that and have put forth this reminder to follow a few simple steps to help us dial-it down.

''So, the group came up with 11 acts of everyday kindness, of everyday caring," said Robbie Alm, who helped organize the "Live Aloha" campain.

If it sounds familiar, maybe you recognize this bumper sticker.

It indicates the owner has pledged to do the little things, that make a big difference.

''It's the big ones like taking care of children and elders, said Alm. "It's the everyday ones, like opening doors for people. It's the ones we forget about, like letting someone in, in traffic. Be polite, let them in. That's Hawaii style."

"Live Aloha," has actually been around for more than a decade.

But, the timing of this reminder, couldn't be better.

With crowded malls and parking lots, along with growing shopping lists and bloating credit cards, we may sometimes forget the basics.

''There's too much of the stress in our lives, leading us to forget the basic rules of being polite to each other and caring about each other," said Alm. "Life ends-up being about the little things. And when you get the little things right, it's funny how all the big things come out right, too."

Just in time for the New Year.
