Arizona State Will Play Hawaii in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl

HONOLULU (KHNL) - Arizona State University has accepted an invitation to play in the 2006 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, according to Sheraton Hawaii Bowl Executive Director Jim Donovan. The Sun Devils will face off against the UH Warriors in Honolulu on December 24. Hawaii was invited on November 4.

"We are excited to have a team from a BSC conference in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl " Donovan said. "Arizona State had a winning record and a nice win over a hot Arizona Wildcat team to wrap-up their regular season. I think it will be a great match up with the Warriors playing a talented Sun Devil team from the Pac-10 conference."

Arizona State, with a record of 7-5 will be making their fourth bowl appearance in the last five years against Hawaii, whose 2006 record stands at 9-2. Hawaii finished the 2005 season with a record of 5-7.

Hawaii and ASU have met six times in the past, with the Sun Devils winning all but one of the games. The last time they met was in 1979. This is the first year a Pac-10 team will be appearing in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.

The Sheraton Hawaii Bowl will be played at 3PM HST Christmas Eve 2006 at Aloha Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN.
