IWILEI (KHNL) - Ready to hunt for big bargains? Nolene Gega, an early morning shopper, says she wants a, "Flat panel T.V. and the laptops and everything!"
Talk about enthusiastic! She has been at Best Buy since 10 o'clock Thursday morning.
"The madness! The madness!," exclaimed Gega. Another shopper, Ann Timbreza, came to Best Buy yesterday at 3 in the afternoon.
"We came last year, but I thought 1 o'clock in the morning, I'd get here and nobody else would be here, but it was this many people, so I left," Timbreza says.
But this year, she didn't mind the wait. Timbreza explained, "Because I got it at a good price. I can buy three computers for what I would pay for one."
Inside the Best Buy this morning, employees got a pep talk. Shawn Troupe, General Manager of Best Buy in Iwilei says, "It's like the World Series. You're at the bottom of the ninth and you're going to hit a home run, it's great."
Some stores opened as early as midnight. But, doors opened at the Best Buy in Iwilei just before 5 in the morning.
And once that happened, the real madness began.
Pam Cabrera said, "It's getting caught up in the hype and great deals." Another shopper, Emma Rodriguez, says, "It's kind of crazy. We're waiting in the line for a camcorder."
Long lines are part of the deal. Rodriguez explaines, "Everybody got in, now it's a matter of getting out."
And the sound of scanners and cash registers is music to retailer's ears.
Troupe said, "This day will make or break your fourth quarter."
So much shopping to do, so little time.
