5.0 Quake Hits Waikoloa, No Tsunami Warning

HONOLULU (KHNL) - A 5.0 magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of the Big Island at 9:20 AM HST Thanksgiving morning. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has said that no tsunami was generated, although some areas may have experienced strong shaking. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The quake was centered 11 miles WNW of Pauanahulu on the island of Hawaii, near Waikoloa.

On October 15,  6.7 and 6.0 magnitude earthquakes shook the same area. Those quakes could be felt throughout most of Hawaii's main islands. Reports indicate that this quake was also felt as far away as Oahu.

The October quakes caused power outages, bridge collapses, landslides and road closures throughout the Hawaiian islands. There were no serious injuries in October's quakes.
