(KHNL) - The day before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel days of the year.
Honolulu International Airport is proof of that with long lines and lots of people.
"We're traveling home to LA, which I'm not looking forward to because I hear that's a crazy place right now," said Lisa Covar.
Follow this signs and you'll run into Floreine Higa.
She said, "It's very busy, very busy. We didn't realize it was going to be this busy."
Higa's headed to spend Thanksgiving in Sin City.
Her mission is simple, "Shopping and win a lot of money," said Higa.
And then there's Pam Vreeken, she's headed to Los Angeles.
She said, "It's pretty busy today. I see some lines, so I'm here two hours early."
Vreeken packed her cooler with local favorites to spice up turkey day.
"My son in law asked for some ulu so i have that, i have pineapple, i have sweet bread rolls to bring home to la," she said.
And while people are headed to different destinations, most are braving the crowds for one reason.
"Oh family. I need to go home and be with my mom for Thanksgiving," said Covar.
Higa added, "Thanksgiving is for family."
