WAIMANALO (KHNL) - There may be a shortage of everyone's favorite Christmas plant. But for now, Glenn's Nursery in Waimanalo has plenty of poinsettias.

Their bright red leaves are synonymous with the holidays. In fact, they are already on sale in many stores, but you may want to pick one up soon.

The state Department of Agriculture says, the production of poinsettias has been cut by one fourth.

"A lot of people, they ain't bringing in as much as normally bring in, from what I was told. So there might be a shortage on poinsettias" said Shannon Kaiu, nursery supervisor at Glenn's.

To compound the situation, a major grower is not producing poinsettias anymore. The shortage could cause a slight price increase, but right now growers are holding steady.
