UH Wins, Receives Bid to Bowl

Nov 4, 2006 03:17 PM

HONOLULU (KHNL) -  It might be the first week of November, but talk of the college football post season has already begun as the University of Hawai'i accepted an invitation to the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl, becoming the first NCAA team to earn a berth in a college bowl.

Hawaii, needing one more win to officially qualify for a bowl bid, jumped out early and often with Quarterback Colt Brennan breaking records and tossing six touchdowns in a 63-10 victory over Utah State Saturday.

The Warriors of the Western Athletic Conference now stand at 7-2 and will face a Pac-10 opponent in the Hawai'i Bowl on Dec. 24 at Aloha Stadium.  Last year the Warriors 5-7 season left Hawaii out in the cold, missing the Hawai'i Bowl for the first time since its start in 2002.

Possible opponents include Oregon State, UCLA, Washington, or Arizona State.
