HONOLULU (KHNL) - Tense moments along Ward Avenue in Honolulu Tuesday morning. A 78-year-old woman crossing the street winds up pinned under a van.
It happened at the intersection of Ward and South King Street. Police say the van was turning right from Ward onto King, when it plowed into a woman who was in a crosswalk.
Firefighters were called in to lift the van off her leg. The man behind the wheel was not hurt.
"He's quite shaken over this, understandably so," Sgt. Brian West, Honolulu Police Department, said. "And I let him know that she appeared to be in reasonable condition, serious but, you know, conscious and so forth."
