Damage Report

The states electricity appears to be out throughout Maui, Hawaii, and the big island of Oahu. There are reports of people stuck in elevators and buildings in Waikiki. There is no word when electricity will be restored to the island of Awawho and the big island. The board of water supply is urging everyone to conserve water as they can not fill their reservoirs. There are reports of extensive damage to the structure of Kona Hospital on the Big Island which lead to an evacuation there. People are being treated outside of the building. Highway 19 between Hilo and Waimea are also closed. In Kailua-Kona hotels are also being evacuated. Older homes in Kohala have been moved from their foundations. The governor was on the Big Island during the quake. Hawaii Civil Defense is asking for you to help in this emergency. Please stay off all roadways and keep telephone and cell phone lines clear.

    Light winds and mostly clear skies are in the forecast for Monday, but an approaching cold front will combine with abundant moisture from the south to bring heavy showers and a chance of thunderstorms to most of the state by Monday night and Tuesday.
