KALIHI (KHNL) -- They have no idea why he did it. Now, some folks in Kalihi are trying to pick up the pieces after a young man ran around slashing tires on nearly a dozen cars.

18-year-old Awor Baelo is accused of shattering a windshield and damaging nine other cars in this area.

"You can see the slices over here," Durling Adric, victim, said.

Two punctured tires, and Durling Adric's truck no longer sits right.

"I walked over. I was going to wash my clothes," he said. "And I seen the car leaning."

His tires weren't the only ones slashed Monday. Four other cars parked in a lot at 666 North King St. got similar damage.

"These are brand new tires," Adric said. "That's my reaction. All of them. I don't know what to do."

Witnesses say a car parked on Pua Lane was the suspect's next target. The front windshield is shattered.

"You know these kids now days," Adric said. "The parents don't love them or what? I don't know."

Police say once the damage was done at the Shell station, the suspect crossed the street and slashed the tires on four other cars in another parking lot.

"Some car was four tires. One was the two like that," Kimi Kim, witness, said. "We was all speechless. How could that things happen? I can not understand that."

18-year-old Awor Baelo is accused of causing all this destruction.

"Have you seen anything like this before?" this reporter asked.

"Not like this," Kim said. "So many cars like that. Robbery, yes, happen. But not this we don't. No reason he does that damage."

Officers arrested the suspect on suspicion of felony criminal property damage.
