(KHNL) - A Hawaii family is gathered to say goodbye to a soldier killed in Afghanistan. Tuesday afternoon the family of Michael Fuga met to remember this lifelong soldier. He was killed in Kandahar September 9th during combat operations.
Fuga was stationed in Missouri with the Army National Guard before being deployed to the Middle East to help train the Afghanistan National Army. But his mom and dad, as well as thirteen brothers and sisters are here in Hawaii. So after Michael s death his wife Justina felt it was only right to bring his body here before heading home.
"My father in law is very ill and so I wanted him to have the opportunity to say his farewells to his son, not only his father but also the entire family. I felt like as a last gift to my husband was to come out here and say farewell" said Justina Fuga.
The body of Sergeant First Class Michael Fuga is scheduled to arrive here in Honolulu on Tuesday.
