AIEA (KHNL) - As you're driving along the H-1 Freeway, near Aiea, you'll notice the Aiea Heights Pedestrian Overpass has completely changed.

Crews worked up until about 4:00 AM Wednesday, tearing-down the Aiea Heights pedestrian overpass.

By 3 o'clock Wednesday morning, crews successfully removed one side of the bridge.

The rush hour traffic coming in from the West Side of Oahu was moving at a snail's pace.

Commuters tried to get a head start following yesterday's traffic nightmare.

The H-1/H-2 merge was backed up.

Over near the Aloha Stadium, cars, cars and more cars there, as well.

People coming into town from mililani experienced a tie-up after traffic came to a screeching stop, because of a serious accident on Kipapa Gulch.

The zipper lane is closed, but Scott Ishikawa of the Department of Transportation says it will re-open Thursday morning.
