EWA BEACH (KHNL) -- She was at a bus stop when her nightmare began. Now, three men accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a girl in Ewa Beach are on the loose.
The graffiti problem at the Ewa Beach bus stop now seems minor, compared to what police say happened Sunday.
"Saw the police cars next door, so we came up front to see what was going on," Ruby Santiago, Ewa Beach resident, said. "And the police say that a 17-year-old got abducted."
The girl told investigators three men in a dark-colored car approached the bus stop. Two of the men then pulled the victim inside the car.
"Scary for young girls, you know, just have to catch the bus to go school. My goodness," Santiago said.
Police say the suspects took the teen, who's mentally disabled, to a home at nearby Iroquois Point Housing. Once there, she says one of the men sexually assaulted her.
"We were surprised because, you know, living here for 38 years, first time I hear something like that," Santiago said.
The bus stop is located near Ilima Intermediate and Kaimiloa Elementary schools. Santiago says the case makes her worry about her grand-daughter's safety.
"From now on, she's not walking down or anything like that in the morning," Santiago said. "She's going to be driven to the bus stop and wait until she gets on a bus."
Two of the men are believed to be in their 20s. The third suspect may be in his late teens.
