AIEA (KHNL) The state Department of Transportation has closed H-1 Ewa-bound indefinitely after a military transport truck struck a pedestrian overpass. Officials describe the walkway as heavily damaged.

All traffic heading westbound on H-1 will be rerouted to the Aiea exit (13A). The DOT advises motorists to allow for extra time when travelling to leeward Oahu. 

The accident occured at about 2:20 PM Tuesday. The flatbed truck was carrying what witnesses describe as an excavator.
