Random Sports Thoughts

Some random local sports thoughts...

We all know that Hawaii is arguably the top per capita volleyball state in this country.  With the great victories and clutch performances by Kimberly Kim and Dean Wilson this past weekend, and with the continuing success of other Hawaii youngsters at various levels, maybe people will start talking about Hawaii being seen as an up and coming center for world class golf players.

With less than two weeks to go before the start of the UH sports season, hopes and hype run high for the fall squads of football, wahine volleyball and wahine soccer.  Here's hoping that the reality in four months comes close to meeting the vaunted expectations that local pundits and exuberant fans place on these teams.  Either way, win or lose, they are our teams, and they all deserve our support throughout the autumn.

The annual success of Hawaii's baseball youngsters- capped off by championships in numerous age groups over the past few years- is yet one more sign that we really do have some top notch athletes, coaches, and strong parental support throughout this great state.  Think about it...
