(KHNL) - A tractor trailer overturned Friday afternoon on the H-1 Freeway, making a mess of the evening commute.

The semi-truck overturned on the freeway's west-bound lanes near the Kunia Road off ramp at about 2:30 pm.

Five people were taken to the hospital, including a pregnant woman and her one and-a-half year old child.

No one suffered any serious injuries.

In total, four vehicles were involved.

Police say the trailer truck driver lost control and that had a domino effect.

"The first collision occurred when the tractor trailer driver lost control of his vehicle, collided with the van and in an attempt to avoid that collision a SUV went into the center most lane and was rear-ended," explained Honolulu Police Captain Frank Fujii.

As you can imagine, the crash severely affected traffic.

Cars snaked for miles as drivers waited to be detoured around the trailer.

Fire fighters and traffic investigators worked to clean-up the mess.

All lanes were finally re-opened just after 5:30 pm.
