Native Hawaiian Group Lands On Kaho'olawe

KAHO'OLAWE (KHNL) - A group of Native Hawaiians landed on the island of Kaho'olawe Monday an in attempt to re-claim the land. The group says it is peacefully and openly challenging the United States government to return the island which is off limits to the general public.

Group members say United States law allows them to re- claim the land they believe unlawfully taken from them. The state land department is responsible for enforcing law on Kaho'olawe.

DLNR officials did not comment on Monday's landing, but say they will travel to Kaho'olawe Tuesday.
