MOILILI, Oahu (KHNL) - After 60 years in business, a local auto shop closed its doors for the last time today. Since 1946, Varsity Motors has been keeping cars running smoothly in east Honolulu.

The Moilili shop announced its shut down last month after its lease with Kamehameha Schools was not renewed. Even on its last day of business - the shop still had customers coming in for the kind of personal service they ve become accustomed to over the last six decades.

"It'll bring a tear every time I drive by, but it ll be a big blank lot. How long, I have no idea. It will be empty, so a big part of your life will be gone." said owner Bob Taga.

The shop is scheduled to be demolished in September. Back in the 1950's, Varsity Motors operated three shops in urban Honolulu. Taga says he plans to help one of his employees open a new auto shop sometime in the next few months.
