Island Airfare Wars Heating Up

(KHNL) - Inter-Island commuters are welcoming a sale on summer airfares.

Go!, the new inter-island airline is announcing a $59 dollar roundtrip inter-island fare.

Both Aloha Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines are matching the $59 dollar fare, but of course there are some restrictions.

Aloha Airlines calls it the "Funbird Fare" and Go!, the new island carrier run by the Mesa Air Group, is calling it their "Midweek Madness Sale".

Whatever the gimmick, it spells saving for local fliers.

These low fares may be ideally suited for the business traveler since they're only available Monday through Friday.

So if you're looking for an inter-island getaway on a weekend you will pay a little more.

Frequent flier Stuart Connelly says, "It's always good to have competition. Anytime there is competition the consumer usually gains from it."

Go! will launch service June 9th. These summer sale fares must be purchased by May 22nd for travel before September 30th.

Other restrictions apply.
