(KHNL) As Kauai continues to recuperate from the devastating dam breach from a week and a half ago. Today's storm left parts of the already flooded Garden Isle once again underwater. Heavy rains dumped on major highways from Wailua Homesteads to Waimea Canyon. Flash flooding and mudslides across the island shut down roads including Waimea Canyon Drive. Several residents in Kapa'a woke up to the pounding rain to find their parking lots and apartment complexes flooded .

One woman in Kapa'a said the rainwater destroyed everything from books to beds inside her apartment.

"I thought the rain was over. I was just telling friends yesterday I didn't have any problems, but I got it"  said flood Victim Jeanne Ross

Even with the heavy downpours the Kauai Fire Department wasn't needed for any water evacuations.

Officials on Kauai also had to shut down Lydgate State Park because of a sewage spill. They say a Wailua wastewater basin overflowed spilling as much as 10-thousand gallons of untreated sewage into the park and a nearby pond. Officials are warning people to stay away from the water.
