WAC Quarter Finals!
After a heartbreaking loss on Senior Night to Louisiana Tech, the Rainbow Warriors fall to the #4 seed and face the New Mexico St Aggies in the Quarterfinals of the 2006 WAC Tournament. Seeds 2-5, Louisiana Tech, Utah State, New Mexico State and Hawaii, are all separated by 1 loss in the WAC standings which should relate to an exciting and suspenseful journey through the WAC Tournament. The path to the WAC Tournament title and automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament will ultimately have to go through the defending champion and host, Nevada Wolfpack led by the newly named 2006 WAC Player of the Year, Nick Fazekas. Nevada, now ranked 24th in the nation, is finishing strong winning their last ten games and have already clinched at least a share of the WAC regular season title.
Even if the Rainbow Warriors fall short of a WAC Tournament title, with a good showing in the tournament itself, they could secure a spot in the NCAA’s other post season tournament, the National Invitational Tournament. So tune in for all the action on K5 The Home Team!
K5’s Rainbow Warrior WAC Tournament coverage begins with Quarter-Final and Semi-Final action March 9 and March 10.
Live coverage beginning at 6:30 PM Hawaiian time. The game will be rebroadcast at 10:30 PM HST.
