MAKAHA (KHNL) Just a week after a girl s leg was mauled by a shark on Maui, ocean safety officials closed a beach near Makaha Sunday after another shark sighting.

A Hawaiian monk seal was seen basking in the sun. It is likely that it outswam a shark.

Police and lifeguards closed the waters at about one-thirty Sunday afternoon. Lifeguards cleared the water and warned swimmers and boaters. They beleive the shark may have been attracted to this seal. They posted signs warning of the possible threat.

The beach was only closed for a few hours.
