Man Arrested for Allegedly Promoting Pornography

KAHALA (KHNL) - A man is in Honolulu police custody, accused of sneaking into a boy's home in the middle of the night and giving the child pornographic materials to view.

Police arrested Joseph Colasacco, 30, on suspicion of promoting pornography to a minor early Monday. The child's mother tells KHNL News 8 her teenaged son met the suspect on-line.

Officers arrested Colasacco at the child's Kahala home at about 1 a.m. Monday. We are not showing you the exact house in order to protect the young victim's privacy. The 14-year-old boy told investigators the suspect gave him pornographic mazagines and DVDs to view.

The boy's mother told KHNL the family is devastated by what has happened. She says it started raining heavily in the middle of the night, so she and her husband went downstairs to shut some windows. That's when they discovered the suspect inside their home.

The child reportedly met the 30-year-old suspect on MYSPACE.COM, the on-line networking site that's highly popular among teens.

The boy's mother says Colasacco's car is still parked on their street. The suspect reportedly works as a civilian driver for Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

Promoting Pornography to a Minor is a felony that is punishable by up to five years in prison.
