Lake Wilson, Wahiawa (KHNL) - One man died Wednesday in a boating accident on Lake Wilson.

Fire rescue crews got the call at about 10:40am and searched for him for nearly two hours. The visibility is so poor, Air One pilots say they couldn't see anything in the lake.

Ellie Jacinto lives on the lake. "I heard someone calling like he was in distress, like, 'Help, help, help.'" Jacinto looked outside and saw "this boat spinning around with noone in it." She called 911.

Police say the victim man was fishing with his friend when they got separated. The friend heard the call for help but when he came over, the boat was empty and the victim was missing.

After two hours, divers found the victim in fifty-feet of water. Honolulu police say the man had just bought the boat two weeks ago and was not that experienced.

Police say the man's friend told them, the victim didn't know how to operate the boat that well.

The medical examiner will now determine the official cause of death.

Neighbors watching the drama unfold are upset, but they were worried for a moment it would be a double tragedy.

Ellie's husband Dell says, "I was hoping she didn't have a heart attack because she was so nervous." Ellie is fine, but now, they're keeping the man's family in their prayers.
