We have another day of muggy conditions and light winds as a weak surface trough that was tropical cyclone Paul moves through the area from east to west. There's also a higher chance of afternoon showers, and conditions may be unstable enough for some heavier showers and perhaps an isolated thunderstorm on the Big Island. Trade winds should gradually return Friday with more normal weather for the weekend.
A south shore swell may hang on a little longer Thursday with some chest-high sets possible. West shores will see a wrap from that swell. East shores are also rising, with good fishing and diving conditions for north shores. A small craft advisory will be taking effect Friday morning for coastal waters around Maui County and the Big Island as the trade winds return.
