KAHALUU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Kaneohe-bound lane of Kamehameha Highway is closed Saturday evening near Heeia Pier as officials respond to a broken water main.
The break was reported around 6:45 p.m.
Officials say a single lane of the highway is closed from the pier to Hunalepo Street.
Approximately 27 homes are without water after the 6-inch line broke earlier in the evening.
"Motorists are advised to abide by all traffic signs and to exercise caution when traveling near the work area, drive slowly and to consider using alternate routes," Board of Water Supply officials said.
Special duty HPD officers are assisting with traffic controls.
For homes without water, a water wagon has been set up at 47-118 Kamehameha Highway. Repairs are ongoing.
